Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans
  • 1 lb brown sugar
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pecan halves for garnish

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350F. Take chopped pecans and pulse in food processor until they are very fine. Spread them out on a cookie sheet and roast for 810 minutes, just until they are fragrant.
  • In a large mixing bowl, add sugar, butter, and salt. Whisk to combine. Whisk in eggs one at a time until incorporated. Add flour and whisk until just combined. Add vanilla and pecans and mix until incorporated.
  • Place mixture in a greased 9 x 13-inch pan. Place pecan halves on top of each 2 x 2-inch square. Bake at 350F until bars pass the toothpick test—around 30 minutes.
