Black Alder is commonly found throughout the United States. Native American herbal tradition regarded the bark as a botanical aid for relieving occasional constipation. In fact, herbalists describe its action similar to Cascara Sagrada.
Classic herbal texts also cite Black Alder Bark for supporting circulatory health, and promoting digestion.

To prepare as an “instant tea”: Pour 1 cup of boiling water over ¼ to ½ teaspoonful of powder. Drink 1-2 cups of tea daily. If desired add honey and/or lemon to suit taste.
