Ipomaea jalapa
Jalap is a winding vine that grows in Mexico and other areas of South and Central America. The dried root was a traditionally used as a very strong laxative.
The Jalap plant is a related Morning Glory species, and the root is believed to be the legendary High John the Conqueror plant.
